S&A // Just another friendly neighborhood Zeller family.
Here's some pics, vids, and short thoughts from Judson's comings and goings.
Judson enjoys his special time with Scott. This is what I saw when I pulled into the parking lot as I was coming home from my afternoon class.
Since J is feeling better and seems to be back to his normal self (except for a little coughing now and then), I thought I'd experiment with putting him to bed without swaddling him. He's never taken a nap or been put to bed without being tightly bound in a swaddle blanket. But he's a big boy now, and we have to stop it sooner or later.
So...I tried it....and he talked to himself for about an hour, sucked his hands, created puddles of drool..and he must have wiggled alot because he is far from his pacificer. But then he fell asleep...no crying! Hmmm....i wonder if it will be that easy to drop the swaddle? Or maybe he was just extra tired from a fun day of playing with Mala (Grandma Z) and Aunt Hannah. He might wake up at 2 am screaming, wondering what is going on with all this freedom.
These pics were taken on the same night. At first he was in the brown pajamas. But since it actually worked and he fell asleep, I realized he probably needed warmer pajamas (since he isn't also wrapped in the fleece swaddle). So yes, I was a mean mom and switched his pajamas. And i even turned on the light to take these pictures. But he didn't seem to care, because as you can see from the second pic, he was out cold in just a few min the second time.
Thanks for putting up with all of my "mommy" ramblings. He is just growing up so fast! I'm trying to capture every little change before he changes again!
To me this picture looks like a baby Scott hanging out with a baby Eric (Scott's brother)!! HAHA! I totally see their daddys in them!!
This is Makaria, Judson's cousin who is two months younger. She is the opposite of Judson is some ways. He has always been a pretty laid back social butterfly. And she started life as a pretty intense, opinionated chic. But she has a cool little personality and she is starting to show us her cute smiles and coos. They are so much fun to watch when they are together. Makaria likes to stare at Judson, and I'm sure Judson is jealous of her full head of stylish hair. Soon these two will be playing and investigating the world together. They already have suffered together! Last week Makaria also had RSV. She is better now, and as you can see from this pic, Judson is happy and doing much better also. He still has some nasty coughing fits that choke him and lead to him losing part of his meals (yuk!), but overall his congestion is getting better each day.
Judson's pediatrician tested him for RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) and it was positive. The doctor said the virus can last 10-14 days. Well, he's been sick (runny nose) already for 13 days, but just got the nasty cough/congestion a few days ago. He might have just had a normal cold at first and then caught the virus on top of that. So we don't know how much longer to expect until he turns a corner! We might have quite a few more days until this thing rides itself out, as there is no medication for it. He had a breathing treatment at the doctor's office, and if his breathing becomes worse we might have to do them at home. But for now we just care for him as normal and pray and wait!
It's hard to see our happy baby so sad! He was still cheerful until yesterday when things started going downhill. We are going to see the Dr. this afternoon. Not sure they can do anything, but we should at least check to see if he has an ear infection with a cold that has lasted this long. He also just woke up from his nap with a little fever, so this paranoid, first-time mom is worried about pneumonia. We'll see.. He's a trooper, and we know God is in control.
Judson has had his first cold the last several days. He’s still his happy self, but is smiling through layers of snot these days. How do you keep a boy clean who is constantly wiping his nose with his hands and spreading it all over himself? Oh well, hopefully he’ll be better soon and have a built-up immune system to show for it.
More pictures to come…
